Best Time To Visit Kalinchowk
It snows in Nepal from December to February. So these months are the perfect time to visit Kalinchowk to enjoy the snow.
Kalinchowk is about 140 km from Kathmandu towards the east. A bus service is available from Ratnapark to reach Charikot. From Charikot no public bus service is available further. So you have to hire a four-wheeler to reach Kalinchowk. In the next two hours, you’ll find yourself in Kuri village.
Kalinchowk Bhagwati Temple
Kalinchowk Bhagwati Temple is located on top of Kalinchowk hill. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagawati. Hindu devotees visit here in Chaite Dashain. They believe that Goddess Bhagawati fulfills their prayers and desires. Unlike any other temple, here you would see the shrine of Goddess Bhagawati out in the open with bells and tridents as her fort, and not the traditional temple architecture.
You can either hike for about half an hour or use a cable car service to reach the temple from Kuri village. The cable car ride is 2.5 kilometers long and takes about 6 minutes to reach the hilltop.
Being on the top of the hill, you will see a far-spread sky, usually in a beautiful blue color. The backdrop of the snow-capped Himalayas and the view of Kuri village with bright blue rooftops is an unforgettable view from atop. So, even if you walk in to take blessings from the Goddess, the beauty of Kalinchowk will entice you.
